Dear IME Students,

I would like to encourage you to look into the “BS+MS Blended” program. The “BS+MS Blended” program (formerly known as 4+1 Program) provides a means for academically excellent students to complete MS graduate studies concurrently with completion of BS degree requirements.

You are encouraged to apply to the “BS+MS Blended” Program if you meet the following requirements:

  • You are interested in pursuing an MS degree, and
  • You are about to complete your BS program (you have less than three quarters to graduate, and you have completed 75% or more of your Engineering Science and support courses), and
  • Your GPA of the last 90 units that count toward your degree is >3.0,
  • You have not yet enrolled in IME 481, and
  • You received C- or better in your major courses.

Please submit the following material to the IME Department office if you meet the qualifications listed above:

  1. A cover page stating your interest in pursuing the “BS+MS Blended” program of IME Department. Specify the graduate program: Master of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering (MS-IE), or Master of Science Degree in Engineering with Specialization in Integrated Technology Management (ITM),
  2. A copy of your unofficial transcript,
  3. A summary sheet with a list of courses and grades received for the last 90 units taken at Cal Poly (see example),
  4. Graduate Studies Application Form
  5. Postbaccalaureate Change of Objectives Form

The graduate committee will let you know the status of your application. Co-op or summer internship experience is a plus, make sure you mention your industrial experience in your cover page.
